If I could pinpoint one thing in all of ever that has influence my sense of humor and overall temperament, it would be achewood. The perfect blend of deadpan humor and absolute soul-numbing depression.
just like life.

Reading “I Shall Destroy All The Civilized Planets!” by Fletcher Hanks. Man, this stuff is RIDICULOUS.

Picked up The Contract with God Trilogy by Will Eisner today- oh man, made it through the first book- this stuff is AMAZING. I can see now why the comics industry named their top award after the guy. It’s so beautiful and hopeful and sad. I can totally see where Craig Thompson got a lot of his influence as far as layout and panels as well- I was reminded a ton of blankets and habibi while reading.
My favorite part so far has to be “The Super.” Short story, but super heartbreaking. A peek behind the tough exterior of a tough-guy type character. Man, who poisons a dog?

Was reading, but now: Read. I keep hearing a lot about Grant Morrison, and this is my first experience with his stuff. And… uh… weird. Good, I like all of the weird breaking the fourth wall kinda stuff, but… I wanted more. A lot of the characters just come and go, and for a limited series, there’s not much of an overarching narrative. Interesting ideas… but… it’s no Preacher.

Reading. So far it seems… very dense. The extremely detailed annotations are useful, for sure.

The cover of an “ALIEN” graphic novel, drawn in 1979 by an 11-year-old who had never seen the movie. Sounds good to me!
